Role details
Automation Plastics is a custom plastic injection molder in Aurora, Ohio looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer. This role is responsible for leading problem-solving activities, driving mold and equipment improvements, and delivering technical training to personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer:
- Utilizes engineering knowledge with hands-on technical skills to increase production capabilities by eliminating bottlenecks, downtime, improving cycle times; while ensuring production processes run predictably.
- Design and drive robust methods, mistake-proofing, and implement root cause analysis to drive process improvement while identifying and eliminating defects at the source.
- Utilize GMP, Lean tools and Continuous Improvement to improve labor efficiency and standard work; optimize tooling, layouts and ergonomics that result in cost efficiency and enhance our APC Core Values of Teamwork, Optimism, and Safety.
- Provide operational project management support for New Product Development and Transfer tooling in terms of cellular layout, process control documentation, work instructions and training.
- Manage manufacturing engineering and process design elements, including RJG methodologies
- Support project management activities and contribute to successful project execution
- Other duties as assigned
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering or related engineering field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-8 years of hands-on manufacturing engineering, preferably in plastic injection molding
- Knowledge of Electrical and PLC experience is desired
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout a manufacturing environment
- Frequent use of hands and arms for reaching, handling, and operating equipment
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as needed
- Vision requirements include close, color, peripheral, and depth perception (correctable to 20/40)
