About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
to join a growing manufacturing organization in Riviera Beach, FL. This is a hands-on, design-focused opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in 3D mechanical design, high-volume plastics manufacturing, and injection molding tooling .
The ideal candidate will bring deep mechanical design expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external vendors. This role offers the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and develop into a leadership position over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of components, assemblies, tooling, and related products.
- Create and modify detailed
3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using Pro/E
.
- Apply GD&T and appropriate tolerancing practices to ensure manufacturability, fit, form, and function.
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials based on performance, durability, cost, and manufacturing requirements.
- Develop designs for
high-volume plastics manufacturing
, with particular emphasis on injection molding.
- Support the design and development of
injection molding tools and tooling-related components
.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, operations, and other cross-functional teams to bring designs from concept through production.
- Work directly with outside vendors, tooling suppliers, and manufacturing partners to resolve design and production challenges.
- Review designs for manufacturability and identify opportunities to improve cost, quality, efficiency, and production performance.
- Apply automation and engineering technologies to improve design and manufacturing processes where appropriate.
- Troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings, specifications, and design records.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced engineers and team members as opportunities arise.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the organization's long-term engineering goals.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional mechanical design engineering experience
.
- Strong proficiency with
Pro/ENGINEER (Pro/E)
and 3D mechanical design.
- Extensive experience with
GD&T, tolerancing, material science, and material selection
.
- Hands-on experience with
injection molding and tooling
.
- Strong understanding of
high-volume plastics manufacturing
and design for manufacturability.
- Experience working directly with outside vendors, tooling suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
- Strong mechanical problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret and develop detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability and willingness to work
onsite five days per week in Riviera Beach, FL .
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the
plastics manufacturing
,
automotive or automotive-related manufacturing industry
.
- Strong background in
automation, automated equipment, or process automation
.
- Experience designing products/components for high-volume production environments.
- Previous experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, or leading design projects.
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where design quality, efficiency, and production reliability are critical.
