Stanford Manufacturing is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Quality Engineer to join our team in Clemmons, North Carolina. This role is ideal for a quality professional who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, working closely with production teams, and ensuring products meet customer and regulatory requirements.
As a Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting quality systems, new product launches, injection molding operations, supplier quality, process improvement initiatives, and ISO compliance efforts. What You'll Do
Quality Systems & Documentation
- Develop and maintain Quality Plans, Control Plans, Work Instructions, and Workmanship Standards
- Support PPAP submissions and APQP activities for new product launches
- Assist with PFMEA development and risk assessments
- Maintain controlled quality documentation and records
Process & Product Quality
- Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with customer specifications
- Conduct process capability studies (Cp/Cpk) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) analysis
- Support validation of injection molding processes
- Participate in mold qualification activities and First Article Inspections (FAIRs)
- Develop visual inspection criteria and defect classification standards
- Conduct dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM equipment
Corrective Actions & Continuous Improvement
- Lead investigations and root cause analyses using CAPA and 8D methodologies
- Disposition of nonconforming materials and drive corrective actions
- Participate in scrap reduction, process improvement, and quality enhancement projects
- Assist production teams in identifying and resolving quality issues
Audits & Compliance
- Support internal ISO 9001 audits and external customer audits
- Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and quality management system requirements
- Assist with calibration management and measurement system analysis (MSA)
Supplier & Customer Quality
- Work with suppliers to establish and maintain quality expectations
- Monitor supplier performance and corrective actions
- Assist in investigating and responding to customer complaints
- Collaborate with mold makers, resin suppliers, and production teams to maintain product quality
Training & Team Support
- Provide guidance and training to quality inspectors, technicians, and production associates
- Support development of quality-related training materials
- Occasionally assist as a Quality Assurance Technician as business needs require
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications
- 3–5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in plastics or injection molding manufacturing
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems
- AS9100 experience is a plus
- Experience with PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, CAPA, SPC, MSA, and process capability studies
- Familiarity with quality inspection tools including:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Height Gauges
- Optical Comparators
- Gauge Pins
- Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as needed
- Must possess the visual acuity required for detailed inspections and measurements
- Ability to safely use quality inspection and measurement equipment
Work Environment
This position works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to:
- Injection molding equipment
- Mechanically moving machinery
- Dust, oil, and industrial materials
- Moderate to high noise levels
Safety glasses are required while on the production floor.
