Role details

You will serve as a SCIENTIST in the Research & Engineering Department (E), Research & Evaluation Division (E6), Novel Materials & Characterization Branch (E61) of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV. The ND-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.

- You will serve as a Senior Technical Lead Scientist for the Novel Materials and Characterization Branch. - You will conceive, initiate, and develop programs for the synthesis and application of new materials across multiple DoD/Navy areas of interest. - You will lead research in critical areas such as energetics, polymers, tailored materials lethality, supply chain resiliency, and biosynthesis.

- You will consult, instruct, and develop procedures for safe execution of experiments involving explosives. - You will serve as the "Competent Authority" in the area of synthetic chemistry. - You will oversee and coordinate synthetic research efforts.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: leading and developing synthetic chemistry of energetic materials to independently capture and manage externally funded explosives research. , professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
