Laboratory Technician

The Zschimmer & Schwarz Interpolymer division is headquartered in Louisville KY where we produce chemical ingredients including Acrylic Emulsion Polymers for the floor coatings, personal care, and the paints and coatings markets. The Interpolymer site is growing and looking for a Production (Process) Engineer to lead shop floor improvements in safety, quality, and productivity.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of raw material, in-process material and finished products
• Utilize and operate laboratory equipment and instruments according to laboratory SOPs such as viscometers, GC-MS, particle size analyzers, and others
• Perform basic calculations to generate data for compliance of specifications and report results
• Calibrate and maintain lab equipment
• Interpret data to make decisions and troubleshoot reactors
• Perform laboratory work in an accurate and independent manner
• Formulate samples for testing
• Adhere to the guidelines set forth by Zschimmer and Schwarz. This includes safety, professionalism and corporate procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• College Education preferred
• Chemical laboratory experience preferred
• Proficient in math
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to stand at a lab bench for eight hours a day
• Ability to climb stairs daily
• Ability to communicate with operators and supervisors on production floor
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend, and lift 20 lbs. for 30% of the time
• Ability to lift to 50 lbs on occasion
