Role details
Basic Purpose/Function Efficient unit operation; Proper and safe equipment operation in accordance with Plant Operation policies/procedures and OSHA safety rules and regulations Production of high quality products Primary Duties & Responsibilities An extensive knowledge and understanding of the chemical processes and operating equipment. A thorough understanding of the safety aspects of operating a chemical plant. Knowledge of safe handling of raw materials. A comprehensive understanding of Environmental and OSHA regulations. An in-depth understanding of the Polymers area and Standard Operating procedures.
A thorough understanding of the ISO 9001 Quality system and a commitment to our Quality Policy. A personal record of above average performance. Demonstrated leadership ability. Excellent communication skills. A demonstrated ability to organize and plan work. Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time. Ability to coordinate and follow-up on activities. Good computer skills. Successful completion of Incident Command Training Haz-Op Training Additional duties may vary.
Physical Requirements Work a 12-hour rotating shift Work overtime as needed Work in extreme conditions (temperature and humidity) Perform repetitive tasks Detect defects and errors Communicate clearly and accurately Work under pressure Read and comprehend job procedures Bending/Stooping - With activity in these positions Standing - Watching, holding, taking readings Squatting - With activity in these positions Walking during 12-hour shifts Ascending and descending stairs - varying pitches - frequently Emergency Response - Handling firefighting equipment, etc.
Reaching - Above shoulder level or below - activity in these positions Pushing/Pulling up to 60 lbs Lifting/carrying - Weights up to 60 lbs. or more Hearing - Voice, mechanical, electronic Vision - Colors, mechanical motion, steam, vapor, fluids, reading Use of Hands - Operating valves, keyboards, lab tests, cleaning equipment.
Sense of Smell - Chemicals, burning materials Mobility - able to perform a variety of tasks Climbing - Ladders, up and down Turning/Twisting - Able to pivot/turn/twist and perform function Protective Equipment - Able to wear proper safety equipment Driving (Forklifts, Pick-Up Trucks, Cars) with automatic and/or manual transmissions Education : High School Diploma or GED Prior Work Experience : 8-10 years Lion Elastomers is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
