RESRG Automotive is seeking you to join our team as a Robotics Engineer in our Morehead, Kentucky facility!

Your Job

We are seeking a Robotics Engineer to support and advance automation within our injection molding manufacturing operations, with a strong focus on End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT), material handling robotics, and process reliability. This role partners with production, tooling, controls, quality, and engineering teams to improve automation performance, reduce defects, and implement new technologies across the plant. The Robotics Engineer plays a key role in programming, troubleshooting, and improving robotic systems and EOAT solutions used in injection molding cells.

This includes support for part extraction, degating, material handling, and secondary automation processes.

The ideal candidate combines hands-on troubleshooting ability, robotics programming expertise, and a deep understanding of molding automation, ensuring reliable production while driving continuous improvement and process innovation.

What you Will do in Your Role

  • Program, teach, and troubleshoot FANUC robots used in injection molding automation and material handling.
  • Support robotic applications including part take-out, degating, inspection handling, and downstream automation.
  • Troubleshoot robotic systems including encoders, motors, safety circuits, sensors, and communication networks.
  • Design, build, modify, and maintain End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT) for injection molding automation.
  • Support production trials and launches by optimizing EOAT functionality, part handling, and cycle performance.
  • Investigate and resolve product defects caused by EOAT tooling, such as mis-picks, damage, or improper degating.
  • Diagnose issues within 24VDC electrical systems, safety circuits, sensors, and I/O devices.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Keyence safety controllers and vision systems where applicable.
  • Collaborate with quality and manufacturing teams to address issues using Statistical Process Control (SPC) and root cause analysis.
  • Implement automation improvements focused on safety, productivity, and waste reduction.
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation performance, reliability, and cycle efficiency.
  • Support manufacturing transformation initiatives through robotics innovation and automation upgrades.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, retrofits, and automation expansion projects.
  • Coordinate with teams such as Process Engineering, Tooling, Quality, APQP, and Equipment Engineering.
  • Support training and development of technicians in robotics operation, automation troubleshooting, and molding cell automation systems.
  • Assist with scheduling and execution of preventative maintenance, trials, and automation improvement projects.
  • Supervise and mentor a small team of robotics or automation technicians, providing daily direction, troubleshooting support, and performance guidance.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Minimum of 1 year of robotics programming experience
  • Experience with FANUC robot teach pendant operation
  • Hands on troubleshooting of automation equipment and electrical systems (24VDC)
  • Ability to troubleshoot motors, encoders, sensors, and robot communication systems
  • Experience supporting robotic EOAT or automated tooling systems
  • Understanding of Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC controls
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience with Keyence safety controllers

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience working with injection molding automation
  • Experience designing or building EOAT tooling systems
  • Knowledge of degating systems and automated part handling
  • Experience with Van Dorn or KraussMaffaei Injection molding machines
  • Knowledge of Statiscal Process control (SPC) and manufacturing quality systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field OR equivalent hands on experience
