Role details

Archroma is seeking motivated Scientist to join the Packaging and Biomaterials R&D team in Charlotte, NC. This new role will support the development of innovative sustainable coatings, barrier technologies, bio-based materials for paper and packaging applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and formulate waterborne coatings, barrier coatings, and bio-based materials for packaging applications.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments, characterization, and performance testing.
  • Support customer trial, scale-up activities, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional global teams including R&D, application group, product management, and manufacturing.
  • Generate technical reports, presentations, and innovation ideas supporting new product development.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
  • Experience in coatings, emulsion polymerization, paper chemicals, packaging materials, adhesives, or bio-based technologies preferred.
  • Knowledge of waterborne polymers, polysaccharides, barrier coatings, or paper coating technologies is plus.
  • Strong hands-on laboratory and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced collaborative innovation environment.
