Job Title: Mechanical Design - Structural
Location: Middlebury, IN (On-site, 5 days/week)
Contract Length: 12 months Potential extension
Client : Winnebago
Responsibilities
Develop and execute Mechanical designs for structures from conception through prototyping and handoff to business units for production, including: • Develop mechanical designs supporting RV motorized, towables and marine products. Design projects can range from mechanical subsystems such as mechanisms to load bearing structures. • Perform trade studies on designs and materials.
• Select manufacturing technologies to support resultant designs and material selections. • Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis on structural design solutions. • Support and conduct engineering analysis including Finite Element Analysis for structural strength including factor-of-safety evaluation.
• Lead overall packaging studies for vehicle chassis structure to determine ideal component and subsystem layout and mounting. • Perform make/buy studies and identify candidate suppliers for structural component/material solutions. • Lead/support selection of suppliers and serve as the primary contact for component suppliers through the design, prototyping, and production readiness phases.
• Collaborate with other vehicle subsystem owners to engineer appropriate mounting points for components. • Develop and release design data and documentation to adequately specify subsystem content at RFQ, prototype and business unit handoff phases. • Provide input into and support the execution of system and vehicle-level testing as needed.
Support Project Management and Systems Engineering tasks.
