  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, First Shift
  • Work Location: Minneapolis, MN 100% On-site
  • Pay Rate: $22/hr - $24/hr

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support materials testing, surface characterization, product development, and quality evaluation in a research and development environment. This contract opportunity is ideal for recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience with laboratory testing, material processing, and advanced manufacturing technologies while working alongside engineering and laboratory teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine materials testing and characterization following established laboratory procedures.
  • Prepare samples and conduct physical, mechanical, and surface property evaluations.
  • Accurately document laboratory observations, test data, and results.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment used for materials testing and analysis.
  • Assist with material processing, coating, and surface treatment activities.
  • Support product development, research, and quality control projects by analyzing material performance.
  • Collaborate with engineers and laboratory personnel to investigate issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related engineering or scientific discipline required.
  • 0–2 years of laboratory, research, manufacturing, internship, or co-op experience.
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Basic knowledge of materials characterization, mechanical testing, polymers, metals, ceramics, or surface engineering principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented laboratory environment.

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
