About SinterNova

SinterNova is an early-stage advanced manufacturing startup developing a solvent-free process to recover degraded PA12 powder from industrial SLS 3D printing.

We are seeking a part-time Multiphysics Simulation Engineer to support our Digital Build and help reduce technical risk before prototype fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Model non-Newtonian polymer flow through small extrusion ports
  • Evaluate pressure, temperature, velocity, shear rate, and residence time
  • Model heat transfer and localized photonic heating near the discharge region
  • Perform structural, thermal, vibration, and frequency-response analysis
  • Support preliminary free-surface, ligament, and droplet-formation studies
  • Compare port geometries, operating conditions, and design alternatives
  • Clearly document assumptions, limitations, results, and recommendations
  • Collaborate with our mechanical engineer and polymer-science advisors

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
  • Experience with 3DEXPERIENCE SIMULIA, COMSOL Multiphysics, ANSYS, or similar software
  • Experience with CFD, heat transfer, structural simulation, or polymer processing
  • Familiarity with non-Newtonian or viscoelastic materials strongly preferred
  • Experience with acoustics, optical heating, extrusion, or free-surface flow is a plus
  • Ability to turn simulation results into clear engineering recommendations

Position Details

  • Part-time, contract or project-based role
  • Flexible schedule; remote work possible
  • Estimated compensation: $80–$110 per hour, depending on experience
  • A modest equity opportunity may be available for an exceptional candidate who takes meaningful ownership of the simulation program and remains involved through the proof-of-concept phase
  • Potential for continued involvement as SinterNova advances into prototype fabrication and validation

Candidates should include examples of relevant simulation work or briefly describe experience modeling polymer flow, heat transfer, vibration, acoustics, or multi-physics systems.

Pay: $80.00 - $110.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule
