JOB SUMMARY: The Associate Scientist II is responsible for leading material preparation, testing, process development, and characterization related to product development and assisting the supervisor in material design, test methodology, and modification of formulation related to product development in a manner that is consistent with proper testing and laboratory procedures targeted towards product development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES): • Lead material preparation, testing, and characterization while reporting directly to the supervisor • Utilize chemistry, metallurgy, and relevant knowledge in a laboratory environment while assisting the supervisor • Design and implement DOEs for targeted upgraded performance with assistance from the supervisor, including modifying formulation, material processing, etc. ) following well-established standards and procedures • Follow electronic industry practices, including applications for soldering, sintering, surface mount technology, semiconductor packaging, thermal interface interconnections, etc.

REQUIREMENTS: • Master’s degree in a technical discipline (chemistry, metallurgy, material science, or engineering) or bachelor’s degree in technical discipline as noted above and 2 years of related technical experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Strong computer skills with a focus on data processing • Experience in safety, quality assurance, and best practices in engineering and laboratory • Knowledge of SPC and process variation reduction within a manufacturing environment • “Hand’s on” machine operation and test experience • Demonstrated ability to complete a wide variety of assignments in a manufacturing laboratory environment with minimal support/direction • Ability to read and understand product design and fabrication documentation • Ability to document design changes for specifications, per standards • Provide own source of transportation for any local/day travel, including travel between Indium Corporation facilities

Office Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm

The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, and internal equity.

$62,500-$72,350 annually
