Day-to-Day

The Custom Spray Process Engineer serves as the technical owner of the custom spray coating manufacturing process, supporting daily production operations and resolving process or equipment issues. This individual partners closely with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve efficiency, quality, and throughput while ensuring compliance with GMP and ISO 13485 standards. They lead continuous improvement initiatives, analyze manufacturing data, optimize processes, and support scaling operations through automation and new technologies.

The role also includes developing work instructions, training operators, and driving projects that improve manufacturing performance, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Must-Have Candidate Requirements

  • 3\+ years of Process Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (medical device industry strongly preferred)
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Strong background in continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Knowledge of GMPs, ISO 13485 , and equipment validation activities ( IQ/OQ/PQ )
  • Experience working with MRP systems
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing data, identify root causes, and implement process improvements
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and driving operational efficiencies
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train operators and work across manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Medical device manufacturing experience- what other industry can they come from
  • Experience with SCADA systems (Ignition) and Minitab
  • Coating, spray process, or automated manufacturing experience
  • Experience with optical measurement equipment and profilometers
  • Capital project management experience
