JOB SUMMARY
Our Technical Manager will oversee the procurement and maintenance of industrial tools, molds, and dies required for manufacturing operations. They are responsible for optimizing production efficiency, managing tool room budgets, and ensuring high-quality, cost-effective tooling solutions that meet strict safety standards.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Coordinate routine maintenance, mold repairs, preventative maintenance (PM), equipment upgrades and emergency repairs for molds including the replacement of pins, bushings, slides, and ejector components.
Build, modify, or reverse engineer damaged mold components.
Troubleshooting & Optimization: Analyze production tooling wear or damages and direct / make mold repairs accordingly.
Locate or purchase replacements for worn or broken components and related mold repair supplies.
Prepare professional correspondences and mold repair quotes to customers as required.
Ensure continuous improvement to maximize throughput and minimize scrap.
Diagnose and resolve complex mold related issues directly on the factory floor related to tool wear, part defects and/or malfunctions to minimize production downtime.
Evaluate and manage external tooling suppliers, negotiate contracts, and oversee outsourced projects.
Document all maintenance activities and tooling modifications to uphold high standards of operational efficiency and safety.
COMPETENCIES
- Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently
- Experience with 3D CAD data – overlays and or data transfers.
- Proficient with Root Cause Analysis methods
- 5\+ years of hands-on experience repairing and maintaining plastic injection molds in an industrial setting
- Experience in processing injection mold molding machines, producing salable parts.
- A strong understanding of tool and die, injection mold construction, and various plastic resins.
- Ability to read mold blueprints, use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges), and safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts
- Ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure to prevent costly production delays
- Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, project management skills, and cross-functional communication abilities.
- Strong commitment to safety and process discipline.
- Expected to lead technical initiatives and respond quickly to production needs.
Please note this position does function in both an office and manufacturing setting, including regular standing and movement in a production environment that may include heat, noise, and industrial conditions.
Pay: $90,000.00 per year
