About the job

Process Engineer \| Industrial Manufacturing \| Franklin, Massachusetts

Take technical ownership of process improvement and help transform the performance of a growing manufacturing facility.

We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join a global industrial manufacturing group at its facility in Franklin, Massachusetts.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working closely with production teams, investigating manufacturing challenges and turning data into practical, measurable improvements.

Why this opportunity stands out

  • Become a key technical leader within the facility, without directly managing a team.
  • Lead improvement projects affecting productivity, waste, quality, cost and process capability.
  • Work closely with plant leadership and international engineering stakeholders.
  • Support capital investments, equipment upgrades and new manufacturing technologies.
  • Join a global organisation offering long-term development and international exposure.

The Role

You will be responsible for improving manufacturing processes and supporting the long-term development of the Franklin facility.

A significant part of the role will be spent on the production floor, working with operators, technicians, Maintenance, Quality and production supervisors to understand process performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

You will balance this hands-on work with longer-term engineering projects, taking ownership from initial investigation through to implementation and review.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyse manufacturing process performance.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on productivity, efficiency, waste and cost.
  • Investigate production and equipment-related issues using root cause analysis.
  • Develop corrective actions, process standards and operating procedures.
  • Support new equipment, materials and manufacturing technologies.
  • Participate in capital investment and plant improvement projects.
  • Work with Quality to address non-conformities and improve process capability.
  • Analyse production data and prepare technical reports and performance indicators.
  • Provide technical support and training to production teams.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.

Ideal Background

We are particularly interested in individuals who have:

  • A degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Five or more years of experience in Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Continuous Improvement.
  • Strong hands-on experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • A proven record of delivering measurable process improvements.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar improvement methods.
  • Strong data analysis and Microsoft Excel skills.
  • The ability to influence teams and lead change without direct authority.

Experience within roll-to-roll or web handling manufacturing would be particularly valuable. This could include coating, laminating, slitting, extrusion or the processing of flexible materials.

The Person

We are looking for someone practical, curious and comfortable spending time on the manufacturing floor.

You should be able to build strong relationships with operators and technical teams, ask the right questions and take ownership of both immediate challenges and longer-term projects.

This position would suit an experienced engineer who wants greater technical leadership and influence while remaining closely involved in day-to-day manufacturing operations.

Location

📍 Franklin, Massachusetts

The Opportunity

You will become a key technical resource within the facility, with the autonomy to investigate challenges, establish priorities and lead improvements from concept through to implementation.

For an ambitious Process Engineer who wants to make a visible impact and help shape the future performance of a manufacturing site, this represents an excellent long-term opportunity.
