Job Title: Process Technician

Department: Production

Reports To: Process Engineer

Job Summary:

The Process Technician is responsible for setting up, starting, monitoring, and troubleshooting injection molding machines and related auxiliary equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role plays a critical hands-on role in maintaining process stability, minimizing downtime, reducing scrap, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor. The Process Technician works closely with Process Engineers, Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams to ensure molds are properly installed, validated, and running within established process parameters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mold changes, machine setups, and process startups according to established procedures.
  • Adjust processing parameters (temperature, pressure, speed, cooling, time, etc.) as allowed to meet quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot molding defects.
  • Monitor machine performance and respond to alarms or process deviations.
  • Ensure all auxiliary equipment is functioning properly.
  • Document process adjustments and maintain accurate production records.
  • Support first-piece inspections and collaborate with Quality to ensure part compliance.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and assist Maintenance as needed.
  • Help support continuous improvement projects as assigned.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Help cover breaks for Production team as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and toolbox.
  • Follow company policies and 6S standards.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, technical problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of injection molding processes and materials.
  • Ability to read and follow setup sheets and process documentation.
  • Exhibit a “pro-company” perspective and be an advocate for MSI.
  • Honest and transparent in all interactions.
  • Excellent computer skills.

Qualifications and Experience: • High school diploma or equivalent. • 2\+ years of experience in plastic injection molding manufacturing. • Experience with machine setup and troubleshooting required. • Basic understanding of scientific molding techniques and process validation. • Strong understanding of injection molding machines and auxiliary systems. • Ability to read and follow setup sheets and process documentation. • Ability to work independently and within a team.

Physical Requirements: • Ability to stand for extended periods of time. • Ability to lift up to 40-50 pounds. • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements. • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and moving machinery.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
