We are looking for a passionate and talented individual to join our team as a Sr. Chemist for the PFAS department at our Lakewood, NJ location. This position is a full-time onsite role.
Position Summary
The Sr. Chemist is responsible to develop, lead, and coach chemists and technicians that are assigned by the manager while performing the duties and responsibilities such as to conduct research, analysis, synthesis, and experimentation on substances to develop new products, new technology development, new manufacturing technology development and production improvement under minimal supervision.
Essential duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to): • Assist members of the manufacturing technology team to advance manufacturing technology project(s) and suggest, initiate, or propose product designs which will meet the quality standards in the customer’s requirements and the process design to create the newly developed product. • Complete assigned manufacturing technology projects within original due dates, by clarifying problems, suggesting countermeasures, and managing the project timeline. • Working with the sales and business development team, gain the knowledge of the required properties and application of the projects, clearly define the value difference between new items and competitive items; calculate profitability of new item.
• Working with manufacturing technology leadership plan and lead complex projects; understand all background information, clarify problems in the manufacturing technology process, suggest countermeasures, develop project timeline, and complete the project within the original timeframe. • Perform job responsibilities in compliance with Quality management system. • Through lab work, develop and suggest new product(s) which can meet the customer’s requirements.
Perform new raw material study(s) and create new measurement method(s) if needed. • In the process design, assist in the development of the manufacturing process, optimize process conditions, and verify productivity. • Research new developing items, assist in filing patent application, and gain an understanding of all the documentation requirements.
• Develop and prepare quality control documents (standards and specifications) and safety operation manual for the manufacturing/production process. • Issue technical reports based on studies and present to customers. • Conduct research of new raw material, new technical trends, new market trends and patent information to increase product value.
• Take a leadership role in interfacing with cross functional groups to gain knowledge in obtaining business opportunities. • Manage qualifications for new production equipment. Work with sales team for customer notification when needed.
• Research root causes for production upsets (frequent and infrequent) and develop robust countermeasures for production to implement. • Work with production team to schedule and perform ECRs or Deviations as needed in production.
Education and Experience: • Master’s degree in chemistry or related major, plus a minimum of two (2) years’ experience or bachelor’s degree
(B. A.) from four-year college or university in chemistry with a minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience as a Chemist in a manufacturing company which focuses on polymer chemistry, adhesive chemistry, rubber material science or epoxy resin technology and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and/or ABILITIES: • Basic Chemistry (Organic material, Inorganic material, polymer material). Preferred to have basic physics (polymer physics, Rheology, Phenomenology) Analytical Chemistry; • Requires a good understanding and being capable of operating needed test equipment to automotive specifications; • Ability to design, plan and execute experiments based upon scientific methods; • Detail oriented: well organized; • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills; • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed • Requires a good understanding and being capable of operating needed test equipment to automotive specifications.

Salary Range: $90,000-$100,000
